Welcome!

Welcome!

My name is Andrea, also known as "Mom" and "Miss Andrea". I have three sons and I am a daycare provider for a group of several other wonderful, brilliant, and fun kids.

In the spring of 2011 we started work on our
"Little Hands Garden"!

Our tiny .16 acre lot has begun to bloom in ways we never thought possible. :)

The goals of the Little Hands Garden? To help kids:

  1. LOVE and appreciate healthy, wholesome foods
  2. THINK about where food comes from
  3. LEARN the simple pleasures of healthy and sustainable eating and living
  4. Simply GROW some tasty food, using organic methods

This is a place of learning...not only for the kids I teach, but for me!  Come along on the adventure as we learn to garden in very small outdoor spaces. We have been having so much fun!

Each passing season we learn about more than just veggies. Future plans include chickens, bunnies, all kinds of fruit trees and perennials, and, the wildest of our hopes; maybe one day we will procure the empty lot across the street to expand into a true 'urban farm'--or at the very least, fill it up with a garden paradise!

My hope is that these adult hands, and all those little hands, will create a harvest that will feed not only our bellies, but our hearts and minds as well.

  1. This is GREAT! I just love how you are teaching these kids something they will never get in school but is so basic & fundamental to healthy living. I really hope you get that lot across the street! Good luck. Keep us "posted."

    1. Thank you so much, Jo! Sometimes I think I learn more from these kids than they do from me. :)

  2. Yes - if this is what "daycare" meant I'm sure the world would be a better place! Hats off to you!

  3. Karen, what a sweet thing to say! The kids keep me on my toes, but we learn so much together.
