The Reading Corner-- Harvey the Gardener

Here is a sweet little book about Harvey the beaver and his friend, Chip. Harvey notices that his houseplant on the windowsill has wilted, and is inspired to plant beans in place of the dead plant. The two friends take beans that they were getting ready to prepare for lunch, soak them, and put them in the soil. After some time passes, the pals have beans growing, which they eventually harvest and get to eat for a tasty meal!

I really like the last page of the book, which offers "Harvey's Gardening Tips" along with vibrant illustrations of different types of beans. The kids enjoyed looking at how different the various beans looked, and we decided we would definitely be adding beans to our garden!
